VATICAN CITY, 28 APR 2008 (VIS) - A press conference held this morning in the Holy See Press Office presented the results of a survey into "the reading of the Scriptures in a number of countries (U.S.A., UK, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Poland and Russia".

Dr Carmel Bendon Davis, a lecturer in the Department of English at Macquarie University, will give a fascinating free lecture on Julian of Norwich. Dr. Carmel has agreed to give a free Public Lecture on Julian of Norwich at Our Lady of the Rosary, Cathedral Parish Waitara, Wednesday May 28th, 7.30-8.30pm. She will also give a free lunchtime lecture at The Caroline Chisholm Centre on Tuesday June 3rd, 1-2pm.

As a Dominican Woman, I call upon my Brother Dominic, founder of my Order, and my Sister Catherine of Siena to intercede for me, that with the power of the Spirit I may be a worthy preacher of the word this night. Tonight we gather from different lands, countries, regions and religious traditions. We gather as a people of God.

Pentecost Reflection
Many years ago, amongst the Wurrundjerri people in Victoria, as it was most likely was with other Aboriginal peoples, it was the sacred task of the women in the tribe during the gray, wet winter months to carry the fire. Fire meant life. In the drizzle and the damp that we associate with the winter months, it was, of course, not possible to start fires at every new camp-site.
